Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service - MontebelloWalter Stanley Seymour, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Downey, California, at the age of 89. He was born on September 28, 1935, in Amarillo, Texas, and lived a life defined by faith, devotion to family, and a remarkable career.
Walter served his country with honor in the United States Marines from 1954 to 1961, exemplifying duty, service, and strength. Following his service, he built a distinguished career as a supervising engineer in machine design, dedicating 35 years to groundbreaking work. His contributions included projects with NASA’s Apollo missions and the Long Beach Naval Shipyard, achievements that stand as a testament to his expertise and commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Walter was admired for his patient demeanor, tireless work ethic, and generous spirit. He was known as the hardest working man his family knew, and his unwavering faith in God guided him throughout his life.
Walter was a devoted husband to Judith Seymour, and together they shared a lifetime of love. He was a proud father to daughters Caroline Seymour and Lisa Seymour, and to sons John Seymour and Michael Seymour. His joy only deepened with his grandchildren: Frank Seymour, Joseph Smith, Joshua Smith, Angelia Reid, and her son, Logan. He is also survived by his nephew, Larry Fowlkes, and his son, R.J.
A lifelong supporter of the Los Angeles Dodgers and USC Trojans, Walter found joy in cheering for his teams. He was also a devoted Christian and evangelist, sharing his faith with others and living as an example of kindness and devotion.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sally Seymour; his sister, Kathy; and his in-laws, Donald and Orva Faye Farmer.
Though his absence leaves a deep void, Walter’s memory will be cherished forever. His legacy lives on through the love he gave so freely, his steadfast faith, and the lives he touched with his warmth and generosity. In lieu of flowers, we humbly request a donation be made to the following on behalf of Walter Stanley Seymour, as this organization was close to his heart.
