Walter Smith Obituary
Funeral services for Walter Preston “Pret” Smith, age 81 will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston, Rhode Island. Rev. Bobby Hutto will officiate.
Mr. Smith was born June 8, 1944, in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was the son of the late James E. Smith, Sr. and Mary Lillian Bearce Wolfe. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Sheila J. Smith; a son, Jason W. Smith; and a brother, James Smith. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of Marie Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Smith passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Ondrea H. Greene of Dublin; a daughter, Dawn J. (Sharon Day) Smith of North Providence, Rhode Island; a stepson, Greg (Denise) Greene of Dublin; a sister, Jean Passmore of Dublin; a grandson, Angell Jason Day-Smith; and 2 granddaughters.
The family will receive friends from 11:45 AM until 12:45 PM Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the funeral Home.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
