Walter Snover Obituary

Walter Don Snover
April 15, 1948 – October 6, 2025
Walter Don Snover, passed away in the early hours of Monday morning, October 6,
2025, in Yuma, Arizona, after his hard fought battle with cancer. He was born April 15,
1948, in Fremont, Nebraska, the eldest of three boys, to Mary and Walter Dale Snover.
On their large family-owned farm located in Hooper, Nebraska, Walter spent half of his
life growing food crops and raising livestock like cattle and pigs. It was here he met his
beautiful wife, married at the young age of 18, and raised two wonderful daughters.
Ready for a new adventure, Walter and his young family relocated to Yuma, Arizona
where he operated heavy equipment for a local feedlot just outside of Wellton, Arizona.
After a disabling accident, Walter retired from the life of a farmer. However, as farming
never left his heart, he found joy in helping his grandchildren with their many 4H and
FFA animal projects. Years later, after a chance encounter, fate sent Walter on a brand-
new adventure. For the past 14 years, Walter has been a beacon of all that is love, joy,
and the wonder of the Christmas Spirit to thousands in the Yuma community as Santa
Claus himself for Doten Photography and many other organizations. He truly loved
every moment.
Walter is survived by his wife of 59 years Sandra Snover, his two daughters Tammy
(Jeff) Clarkson and Tina (Michael) McCash/Leifeste, his four grandchildren Andrew
Clarkson, Shandelle Snover, Matt (Jessica) Clarkson, Bailee (Wyatt) McCash/Robinson,
and seven beautiful great grandchildren. Walter is also remembered by his two brothers,
John (Connie) Snover and Ron (Donna) Snover.
Although Walter was taken far too soon, his legacy will forever live on in the lessons he
taught, the love he shared, and in the magic he gifted, dressed in his suit of red and
white, to all he met.
The family has chosen a private memorial. In the spirit of Walter, they ask in place of
flowers or gifts, to please donate to The Salvation Army or Toys for Tots and help continue his joy
of bringing Christmas cheer to every child.
