Walter Thompson Obituary
Born December 8, 1940, at his home in Baltimore County, he was the son of the late James Heaver and Helen Elizabeth (Gehring) Thompson. He was the beloved husband of Joyce L. "Tutu" (Merkel) Thompson, his wife of 64 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and then worked as a flooring installer for Martin Surfacing and Decking, having installed numerous projects for sports services around the country.
Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed playing horseshoes and a fan of the Baltimore Ravens & Orioles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children Walter Kirk Thompson of Owings Mills, Kevin Brian Thompson of Westminster and Kathy Ellen Krammer and husband Ted of Westminster; siblings Clara Misener of Towson, Catherine Melton of California and John Henry Thompson and wife Wanda of Westminster; loving grandchildren Andrew, Sarah and husband Kevin, Joshua, Emily and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by siblings Helen, Leona, James "Jimmer", Charles and Mary Lou and cherished granddaughter Alexandria Kowalczyk.
The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD 21157.
Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD.
