Walter Thomas Williams

On April 17, 2024, God whispered in the ear of his faithful servant, Walter Thomas Williams, that it was time to join his lovely wife Josephine. Walter, affectionately known as "Bootsy" by close family and friends, was born on May 26, 1932, to James and Lavinia (Atkins) Williams in Norfolk, Virginia.
Walter married Josephine Williams on December 29, 1958. The beautiful couple shared a wonderful life filled with love for 55 years. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family including his four-legged fur baby "Poochie."
Walter joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and ascended the ranks to Senior Master Chief. Over the course of his 27-year naval career, he traveled the world at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 16 years as a Rigger following his retirement from the Navy.
Walter is predeceased by his parents, sisters (Ruth E. Jones, Mary E. Payne, Shirley Williams "Mickey", Margaret G. Williams, brothers Retired Major Charles H. Williams, Thomas Jr., and nephew Anthony Williams.
He is survived by his sons Mika Arrington (Chesapeake, VA), and David C. Williams (Elizabeth, NJ); nieces Lavinia T. Oliver (Chesapeake, VA) and Debra Johnson (Virginia Beach, VA), sisters, Martha Williams Jones, Helen Williams Edwards, Mary Williams Staten (Harry), and brothers Edward P. Williams, Sam J. Williams (Mae), Jim Evans Williams (Josephine); nephews James Williams (Chesapeake, VA) and Ronald Williams "Duck"; great niece Jette McFadden (Portsmouth, VA) great nephews Raymond L. Oliver and Jermaine L. Oliver and a host of cousins, great nieces & nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday, April 23rd at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 1 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home/Cemetery, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA.
