Walther Grunder Obituary

Walther "Walter" L. Grunder (101) of Glastonbury, CT passed away on May 22, 2023. Born in Long Island, he was the elder son of the late Albert and Hermine Grunder. He was raised in Manchester, graduated from Manchester High School and served in World War II as a lead navigator stationed in Italy. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, he was employed as a machine designer (Harper Buffing, Van Norman and Loctite). He was devoted to his family, church, and community with particular dedication to helping veterans through various veterans' organizations. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Grunder; brother, William Grunder, and a nephew, Gary Grunder. Among his family, he is survived by his wife of 75 years, Georgia Grunder; daughter, Susan (Peter) Morrissey; grandchildren: Geoffrey (Diana Zakem) Morrissey, Katherine Morrissey, Patrick Morrissey, and Devin (Reagan) Grunder; three great-granddaughters and a dear niece, Patricia Miller. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 19,2023 at 11:00AM at First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury, CT.
