Wanchai “Chai” Choowong-In, age 72, of Fairborn, OH, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was born February 23, 1953, in Thailand, the son of the late Boontham and Them (Junmanop) Choowong-In.
He worked as a welder for many years at Ali Industries in Fairborn, OH, where his commitment and expertise were evident in every project he undertook. After achieving great success in welding, Chai transitioned into the packaging department, showcasing his versatility and work ethic during his remarkable career that spanned over 30 years.
Chai's warmth and generosity extended beyond the workplace; he was a loving husband, father, and friend to many. His kindness and spirit touched the lives of those around him, making him a cherished member of his community. In addition to his professional contributions, Chai was a passionate football fan, proudly supporting the Green Bay Packers. He found immense joy in sharing these moments with family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with camaraderie and spirited conversations about the game.
A devoted family man, Chai held a special place in his heart for his cat, which he loved dearly. His family and friends often remarked on his strong familial ties and how he prioritized spending time with loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Chai is preceded in death by a son, Wanchai “Chai” Jr. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Sawitree (Sangkhabut) “BEE” Choowong-In; three children, Eve, Phang, Jimmy; one grandchild, sister, Tow Burg; extended family, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH, 45324. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of service.
As we gather to celebrate Chai's life, the family invites attendees to wear red in his memory, honoring the vibrant personality and the fond memories they hold dear. Wanchai "Chai" Choowong-In will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will remain a source of strength and inspiration for those he has left behind.
