Services for Wanda M. Bannister, age 86, of Sheldon who passed away at her residence on Monday, January 27, 2025. Her celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
A private family graveside service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
A time of visitation and fellowship will be held from 3 to 5 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

WANDA M. BANNISTER
Wanda Maxine Bannister, the daughter of Walter and Bessie (Hoekstra) Dolphin was born on August 13, 1938, in Hospers, Iowa. She received her education through the 8th grade from country school and continued her education graduating from Sheldon High School in 1956. She was married to Louis Bannister for twenty five years and three children were born to this union: Gloria, Dennis and Connie. The couple later divorced. Wanda worked as a seamstress for Aalfs in Sheldon and later as a housekeeper for Sanford Sheldon Hospital. She spent over 30 years with her companion Bill Vogelaar until his passing in 2007. Wanda enjoyed her retirement going to concerts and traveling with Nyla and her sisters. Wanda passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at her home reaching the age of 86 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Wanda was known for her immaculate home. She enjoyed traveling, music concerts, local play production, thrifting, laughing with friends and family and decorating her home.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Gloria Bannister, Dennis (Janet) Bannister and Connie (Kevin) Schley; three grandchildren, Levi, Jarek (Anna) and Brooklin Bannister; two sisters, Phyllis Huntoon (Bill) and Delores Dolphin; special friend, Nyla King; also other relatives and friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents.
