Wanda Bibbs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Chapel on Mar. 12, 2025.
Wanda Lee Bibbs was born June 22nd, 1958. She was born to Webber Gillory and Sylvia Sims. As a child she attended Quindaro Church of God which helped frame her unrelenting spirit for helping others.
Wanda received her education from the Kansas City, KS Public School district, graduated from Wyandotte High School, Class of 1976. Attended KCKCC and Donnelly College where she studied nursing and mortuary science. Wanda was blessed to marry the love of her life Calvin Bibbs on May 12th, 1977. She was able to share her love of both animals and people alike with her husband. They both shared a mutual commitment to service and from this spark, in 1986, Wanda and her husband Calvin opened the doors to their first nonprofit "Grace Center". They made it possible for teenage mothers to get the assistance they needed, allowed them to be a parent, get their education and be given the opportunity to thrive in life. They were blessed to see over 500 babies to be born through their programs.
Her devotion to her family, the mothers in her care, the community and the church led her to further their tremendous
deeds and selfless work at Blessed Sacrament Family Center. In 2000, Wanda and her husband Calvin founded Angels of Grace Family Center where she served as Executive Director, in addition to regularly volunteering in the community across countless nonprofits and catholic charities. Wanda loved the holidays and would host Christmas breakfast and a holiday party for the kids and their families. Wanda and Calvin would dress up in costume on most holidays to share their love of togetherness with the children at the center. To this day, the doors of Angels of Grace Family center remain open and available to all, ensuring they have all the resources they need, giving hundreds of children the opportunity to excel with a jump start from an early age. Her legacy and effects of her passion for others can and will continue to be seen and felt for
generations to come.
Wanda leaves behind to cherish her memories and contagious smile, her sons Calvin Bibbs, Kevin Bibbs, Evan Bibbs of Kansas City KS. Her brother Terrance Johnson of Kansas City KS, Granddaughter Cali Bibbs of Kansas City KS and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 yrs Calvin Bibbs of Kansas City KS, her mother Sylvia Sims of Kansas City KS and brother Theodore Johnson of Kansas City KS.

Calvin, Kevin, Evan and family,
I mourn the loss of your loved one here on this earth. I have many treasured memories of Wanda. She was truly a woman of care and concern for others. When I was principal at Blessed Sacrament, she was a marvelous supporter for the school family and for me. Nothing was too difficult for her to accomplish. So many good things happened there because of her. Know that my sympathy and prayers are with you. We have another Saint in heaven-Saint Wanda. Love, Sister Nancy

Dear Calvin, Kevin, Evan & Monty,

I´m so very sorry to hear about the passing of Wanda. She has been my "sister" for the last 25 years, sharing her love, ambition, enthusiasm, passion for babies & their young mothers, and beautiful family with me. She was my mentor & close friend & always just a call away. I know how much you will miss her. I miss her & regret not spending more time together the past couple of years since I retired to the lake. I know she is going home to be with the love of her life, Calvin. I pray that God will hold you all in his arms & comfort you at this very sad. My prayers & thoughts will be with you.
Love always, Becky
