Wanda Booker Blair Obituary
Wanda was born in Seymour, Indiana, December 19, 1948, the daughter of Benny and Mary Lou Brown Booker.
Wanda was a 1967 graduate of Seymour High School. Wanda was a former employee of Cummins Engine Company; however, she will be remembered as being a laundry attendant for many years at The Ringer on Lafayette Avenue and later at The Hourglass Laundry on Cottage Avenue.
Wanda was a member of the Bartholomew County NAACP and she was a sports enthusiast. She was a basketball fan and a huge fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. She enjoyed crocheting and reading and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids and going to their activities.
Wanda is survived by her spouse of 48 years, Gerald Long of Columbus; daughter, Rani (Booker) Elkins of Columbus; grandchildren, Amber (Christina) Booker of Columbus, Keith (Erica) Taylor Jr. of Columbus, Khendra (John) Taylor of Louisville, and Kyle (Andrea) Taylor of Indianapolis; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Booker of Columbus; brother, Fred "Butchie" (Danette) Booker of Seymour; best friend, Sherri Hanna of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; niece, Jennifer Booker; great-niece, Kynesha (Booker) Martin; and great-nephews, Donavan and Marcus Booker.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; the Reverend Larry Rowe will officiate. A live stream of the funeral service will be available at barkesweaverglick.com.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
In keeping with Wanda's wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences and special memories may be shared with the family and a video tribute may be viewed at barkesweaverglick.com.

It´s coming up on two years since you left this world. I think of you every day. I miss you more than I could ever express. We met and fell in love fifty years ago. The attraction was not only mutual, it was instantaneous. Wanda, you are still in my heart. Jerry

Wanda, It´s been a year since you left us. We all miss you. I miss you every minute of every day. Your final years were a struggle due to poor health. Most people have no idea just how strong and brave you were to the end. After being a witness to this struggle, I hope that your soul is finally at rest. You used to worry about everyone in our family and we all depended upon you. Now is the time for Wanda to take care of Wanda. We need to follow your example and try to emulate your courage. I will always love you and keep you in my heart for eternity. Jerry
