Wanda Ellen Bower, age 94
August 20, 1930 – February 9, 2025
Wanda Ellen Bower, age 94, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 8:10 AM - Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.
A funeral service celebrating Wanda's life will be held at 10:30 AM - Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rev. Danny Farris officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service (9:30-10:30 AM). The burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Wanda, memorials may be made to the Newton Christian Church. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Wanda was born on August 20, 1930, in Oblong, Illinois, the daughter of Freeman and Flossie (VanWinkle) White. She married Gerald Bower on December 12, 1948, in Newton, Illinois; and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2020.
Wanda had worked at Jourdan's Market and was a Mary Kay consultant. For many years she assisted her husband on the family farm.
Wanda was a longtime member of the Newton Christian Church. She enjoyed crocheting and was a wonderful cook. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wanda is survived by:
Children – Ron (Kathy) Bower of Vincennes, Indiana; Bob (Dee) Bower of Wheeler, Illinois and Gloria Lamb of Ellenton, Florida
Wanda was very proud of her 9 Grandchildren and many Great and Great-Great Grandchildren. She also loved her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Marion White and Ken White, sisters Wilma White, Delores White and Ruby Paddock and a granddaughter Kim Dasenbrock Schrenker. A special thank you to the workers at Helia Healthcare in Newton, you loved and cared for her so well and had fun with her too. Thank you, Transitions Hospice Care, for your care during her final days. A very special thank you to her church family at Newton Christian Church, your cards and letters over the years meant a lot to her.
