Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Feb. 3, 2026.
Howard N. Bower, age 79, of Wallingford passed away on January 30, 2026, at the West Haven Veterans Administration Hospital. For 60 years, he was the loving husband of Carolyn Richardson Bower. Howard was born in Meriden, CT, the son of the late Howard C. and Susan Digiulio Bower.

Howard was a graduate of H.C. Wilcox Technical School, Class of 1964. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army, where he worked in the Printing Corps and the Motor Pool. Upon returning home, Howard began his career with Pratt & Whitney, working as a general manager in the mailroom. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service.

A proud member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Howard served as a Senior Commander. A true musician at heart, he was an accomplished guitar player and singer. He was also an avid sports fan, a baseball historian, and an excellent cribbage player. Howard had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved Shih Tzu, Azzi. He also generously volunteered his time at the Wallingford Senior Center for many years.

In addition to his wife, Howard is also survived by his devoted children, Eric (Sharon) Bower and Michael (Bob Inderbitzen) Bower, his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Bower, Emily Farnsworth and Victoria Bower. He is also predeceased by his sister Joyce Lord.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Holy Trinity Church on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 27th at 10:30am. Inurnment will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
