Wanda Darga, age 95 of Warren, Michigan passed away at American House Park Place in Warren on Monday, July 21st with her loving family at her side. She left this life on the same date that her husband Marvin died only nine years later. That has to be a divine coincidence.
She was born Wanda Turowski in Hamtramck, Michigan on May 7, 1930. She was the daughter of Wincenty and Stanislawa Turowski. Wanda graduated from St. Florian High School in Hamtramck in 1948. She married Marvin John Darga at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck, Michigan on November 26, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2016, after 60 years of marriage. Wanda grew up in Hamtramck before moving to Detroit and later resided in Warren. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Our Lady Queen of Heaven in Detroit for over 15 years.
Wanda put her heart into Polish cooking. She found joy in making special meals for her family. She loved to shop, loved holiday decorations, and celebrating holidays with her family. She had a huge collection of beanie babies and was proud to show them off. Wanda loved to dress very well. She spent many hours saying her prayers whenever she had the chance. She and her husband cherished long walks together. Both of them belonged to the Close-Knit Walking Club.
Surviving are her children, Deacon Daniel (Carol) Darga, Victoria (Brian) Kozemchak, Terry Darga, Michael (Nancy) Darga, and Ann Marie (Jeffrey) Payne, along with; grandchildren, Anna (Vera) Wrobel, Michael (Larissa) Kozemchak, Gabriel Darga, Peter (Taylor) Darga, Katie (Ben) Woodcock, Claire Kozemchak and Alex Darga, and great-grandchildren, Emmett and Winston Wrobel, and Lainey Kozemchak. Also surviving is her sister Bernadine Turowski. She was preceded in death by her sister Irene Hart.
Visitation is at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home 2125 Twelve Mile Road in Berkley, (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue), Thursday, July 24th from 3 pm to 8 pm with a scripture service at 7 pm. Wanda will lie in state at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Berkley, 2600 Harvard Road, (corner of Harvard Road and Coolidge Highway) Friday, July 25th from 10 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 am. Wanda will be laid to rest next to her husband Marvin at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, July 26th. Committal services will be private.
