Wanda Sue Guidry

Wanda Sue Guidry, Age 67, of Rome, Georgia, passed away at her sister’s home in Calhoun, GA on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Wanda was born on September 28,1956 in Pensacola, FL. She was the daughter of the late Sidney Frank Guidry and Eva Hazel Strickland Guidry. Wanda grew up in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and graduated from Fort Walton Beach High Schoo in May of 1974. After high school she attended the University of South Alabama where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. From there, Wanda attended Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with her Nursing Diploma and went on the pass the Board Exam to become a Registered Nurse. With her RN, she went on to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to obtain her qualifications to pass the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist exam. Working as a CRNA in Fort Collins Colorado at Poudre Valley Hospital, she married Rex Marley. They raised golden retrievers and loved the outdoors in Colorado. Wanda decided to continue her education and went back to school at the University of Colorado, where she earned her PHD. She taught at CSU for a while, then began her career as an expert witness, testifying as an expert witness in cases involving drugs and alcohol.
In 2020 Wanda moved to Georgia to be closer to family with her dog Rosie, a golden retriever.
Wanda had a love for animals, in particular golden retrievers, a love for music, and a love for flower gardening.
Wanda is survived by her sister Donna Looney and her husband Buddy; brother Ralph Cheek and his wife Laura; and a nephew John Gleason and his wife Irene.
A celebration of life for Wanda will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11 AM at Nellie Peters Memorial Chapel with Rev Sean Hachem officiating.
