Wanda Hill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral Home - Childress on Feb. 3, 2026.
Wanda Faye (Garrett) Hill, 78, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Childress, Texas.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Central Christian Church at 2:00 PM with Dr. Darter and Mr. Randy Wilson officiating, along with the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home Friday, February 6, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Wanda was born on May 29, 1947, in Hillsboro, Texas, to John Chapman and Bernice (Coffman) Saunders.

Wanda was a gambler; she had several gambling apps on her Kindle ready for her to play. Her son, David, said no matter the size of the football stadium, he could always hear his mom's voice over the crowd. Wanda was a good cook, and as a matter of fact, she has a burger named after her at the local Daddy's restaurant in Childress-the burger is called the "Wanda Burger". Her God-given gift was hospitality; there were times that her family would go out to eat at different restaurants, and Wanda would take it upon herself to get up and go fill a glass of tea at a table where it was needed. Wanda truly never met a stranger and loved to joke with others. Some of Wanda's hobbies were fishing, playing softball, and golfing-she actually had "one hole in one"; she is the reason her son took such a liking to golf. Wanda will be remembered for her loving spirit.

Wanda is survived by her son, David Morrow (Lori) of Georgia; her first husband, Cody Morrow; granddaughters, Nikki Wade, Megan Sapp (Joe), Madison Morrow, Molli Morrow of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Holden Wade, Mary-Kate Devotie (Colby), Kiptyn Sapp, and Ella Sapp of Georgia; great-great-grandchildren, Coye Devotie of Georgia; brother, Callie Saunders of Childress; nieces, Lexus Saunders of Childress and Hannah Saunders of Amarillo; great-nephew, Alexander Guzman; sister, Joan Weaver; sister-in-law, Cheri Chapman; niece, Heidi Merryman of Amarillo; nephew, John David Chapman of Amarillo. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and many, many close family and friends.

Wanda is preceded in death by her father, John Chapman, and mother, Bernice (Coffman) Saunders; brothers, David and Terry Chapman.

The family would like to thank Heidi Merryman and Christy Brooks for all their care and love shown towards Mom while receiving chemo and radiation therapy in Amarillo. The love shown will never be forgotten!
