Wanda Kay Hutcherson Carter, age 75, a resident of Water Valley, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Keith Baker officiating. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Potts Cemetery at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 6, 1949, in Maury County, Kay was the daughter of the late James A. “Julie” Hutcherson and the late Maudie Pauline Byrd Hutcherson. She spent her early years working alongside her siblings in her father’s tobacco fields and was known for lovingly preparing pinto beans for her brother every day. Most recently, she enjoyed relaxing in her recliner while watching television, as well as spending time coloring and working on word search puzzles.
She is survived by her sister, Sheila (Edson) Towne of Water Valley, brothers, Eddie Ray Hutcherson of Water Valley, Carl (Reta) Hutcherson of Water Valley, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise Fitzgerald, Darnell “Joe” Hutcherson, Willie C. Hutcherson, and several aunts and uncles.
