Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Muskogee on May 30, 2024.
Wanda Mae Kirk, 96, gained her heavenly reward on the evening of May 27, 2024, at the home of her daughter and son in law in
Muskogee, OK with her loving family at her side.
Wanda took her first breath of life on March 1, 1928, the youngest child born to James Andrew and Lilly Mannon (Davis) at Pumpkin Center settlement at the family's home around the Camp Gruber area of
Braggs, Oklahoma. She grew up enjoying all the country life had to offer, working hard beside her family to make it.
Wanda met C.R. Kirk in 1944 in the fields working and knew exactly that it was love at first sight. C.R. left for the Navy, and she stood by his side lovingly till he returned on leave in the spring of 1945 where they were joined in marriage on April 26, 1945, at the Pentecostal Church in Braggs by Reverend John Ward. To this union, three daughters were born Beverly Ann, Karen Kay and Joy Denise. The couple shared more love and life than most people could ever dream of in their 56 years of marriage until his passing on October 7, 2001.
Above all, Wanda was a devoted follower of Christ until her very last moments. She loved the Lord and spent over 50 years as a dedicated member of the Calvary Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she wore many hats throughout the years in service to the church and God's children.
Wanda was a talented seamstress and could make just about anything a person could ask for from dresses to shirts, wallets, and purses. But most fondly, she is remembered for her beautiful quilts she made. She loved to cook and could often be found making her family's favorite meals.
Wanda's most fond moments were spent with family, she truly loved any moment she could spend surrounded by loved ones. Wanda loved in a way words don't describe and not one family member ever had to question how much she loved each and every one of them.
Loved ones who greeted her at the gates of Heaven include her parents, her loving husband, C.R., daughters, Beverly Ann, and Joy Denise, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Those left to cherish the memory of such a beautiful woman include her daughter, Karen and son in law, Lloyd (Mel); daughter, Gena and son in law, John; grandchildren, Chris Reese, Shannon Reese, Tina Carpenter, Sparky Loftin, Steven Loftin, Brittany Merrill, and Colin Kirk; as well as many great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Muskogee. A celebration of Wanda's life will be 10AM Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Glen Little officiating. Chris Reese, Shannon Reese, Sparky Loftin, Steven Loftin, Colin Kirk and Allen Lawson will be serving as casket bearers. Interment and committal prayers will follow at South Bethel Cemetery, Braggs.
