Wanda Deloris Tanksley Klein, age 95, entered this life on November 13, 1929, in Palestine, Illinois, the beloved daughter of Vernon E. Tanksley and Frances Byrd Tanksley. Her family moved to Madison, Indiana, in 1940, where she later graduated as a member of the Madison High School Class of 1947.

It was in Madison that she met the love of her life, Richard "Toogie" Klein. Their joyful union lasted 74 years and was blessed with three children.

Wanda was of the Catholic faith and attended both St. Michael's Catholic Church then later Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She worked for 28 years as a dental assistant for Dr. William E. Stucker, where she was known for her dedication and care.

She was also active in the local Democratic Party, working for three years under Jefferson County Clerk Ford Connolly. Wanda served on the Democratic Precinct Committee and was President of the Democrat Women's Organization. She was twice selected as a delegate to the Indiana Democratic State Convention.

In her spare time, Wanda enjoyed arts and crafts - especially oil painting - collecting antiques, and tending to her flowers and garden. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a true friend to many.

Wanda passed away on September 24, 2025, in Madison, Indiana.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Carolyn Purvis of Bedford, Kentucky; her grandchildren: Sandra Baystyr (Russell) of Brownsburg, Indiana; Dave Shafer of Madison, Indiana; Kristopher Kalb of Westfield, Indiana; and Matt Shafer (Cami) of Milton, Kentucky; her daughter-in-law, Susan Klein; and her niece, Joyceanne White of Nacogdoches, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard "Toogie" Klein; her son, Richard Anthony "Tony" Klein; her daughter, Suzan Kay Klein; her parents, Vernon E. Tanksley and Frances Byrd Tanksley; her sister, Annis LaVerne Bayne; and her son-in-law, Danny Purvis.

In accordance with her wishes, Wanda will be cremated and her remains will be placed beside her husband and daughter in Springdale Cemetery. Graveside services will be announced soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family directs memorial contributions be made to the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Contributions can be made at the funeral home or below.
