Wanda Leo (Garner) Lockwood, 90, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Morningside of Springfield in Springfield, TN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Brunswick, MO at 11:00 A.M. Stan Switzer will officiate the service. A visitation will precede the service at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery.
Wanda was born on July 22, 1935 in Triplett, MO, the daughter of Loren and Agatha (Clark) Garner. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1953. On January 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Roy "Bill" Gibson. Together they were blessed with three children, Carolyn, Shirley, and Roy.
After high school Wanda moved to Independence, MO and she began working for Western Auto. After 29 years of marriage, Bill preceded Wanda in passing on April 8, 1983. Wanda continued to work for Western Auto for 40 years and finished her career as an inventory analyst. She retired in 1997. On October 18, 1997, she was united in marriage to Gale Lockwood. The couple lived in the Kansas City area for several years and in 2010, Wanda and Gale moved to Springfield, TN. Gale preceded Wanda in passing on November 1, 2016.
Wanda was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Independence, MO and transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church once they moved to Springfield, TN. She loved taking care of her family, working, and crocheting.
Wanda is survived by her three children, Carolyn Dollish of Mansfield, OH, Shirley Nix and her husband Danny of Jacksonville, FL, and Roy Gibson and his wife Tammy of Springfield, TN; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Darlene Cooper of Independence, MO.
She was preceded in passing by her parents Loren and Agatha; her husbands, Bill Gibson and Gale Lockwood; one great-granddaughter, Megan Rickman; one sister, Donna Jean Cooper; and one son-in-law, Alex Dollish.
Pallbearers will be Scott Gibson, Mark Fry, David Cooper, Ryan Cooper, Jason Gagnepain, and Aaron Gagnepain. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Cooper and James Cooper.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Zion Church of Indian Grove. Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO 65236.
