Wanda Louise McDonald

Wanda Louise Coombe Horton McDonald went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on August 6, 1937, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, to the late Raymond and Elma Thompson Coombe. Wanda lived a life defined by faith, hard work, and love for her family. She dedicated 25 years to General Industries in Bald Knob, served 15 years as a field representative with Woodmen of the World Insurance, and spent 26 years as a cosmetologist. Alongside her career, she nurtured her family, maintained a truck patch, worked as an Amway distributor and later became a Mary Kay consultant. Most recently, she served faithfully as secretary at Hopewell Community Church. Of all her roles, Wanda most treasured being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, raising six children and embracing a growing extended family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle Horton; her parents; and her sister, Marget Coombe Little. Wanda is survived by her husband, James McDonald; six children, Michael Horton (Candy) of Tupelo, MS; Beverly Horton Smith (the late Mark Smith) of Bald Knob, AR; Kenneth Horton (Debbie) of Bald Knob, AR; Vanessia Horton Smith (John Ed) of Batesville, AR; Rhonda Horton Glaze (Michael) of Bald Knob, AR; and Lynnda Horton Mason (Brett) of Bald Knob, AR. She also leaves behind three bonus children, thirteen grandchildren, nine bonus grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Vinita Coombe Burns. Wanda's legacy of love, resilience, and faith will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Funeral services will take place Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, with Brother Tim Corley officiating. Interment will follow at Fredonia Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Scott Horton, Chris Horton, Zac Horton, Michael Jay Horton, Presly Smith, Justin Horton, Brian Glaze, Mark Glaze, Caleb Mason, and Brad Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers are James Denton McDonald Jr., Christopher McDonald, Greg McDonald, and Doug Coombe.
