A celebration of life will be held for Wanda Jane McLendon at 2pm Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Unity Baptist Church, Georgetown, MS with burial at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1pm until the service on Saturday. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements. Wanda Jane was loved and respected by so many people. She was a faithful wife to her late husband, Jerome, a devoted mother to her daughters, a prayerful "Granny" to her grandchildren, and a caring friend to all who knew her. She was married to her husband for over 50 years and served faithfully beside him in church ministry for 42 years. After losing Jerome, Wanda Jane devoted her life to serving her church by heading up Operation Christmas Child. This was her focus and love. She found such joy in seeing that each box was filled to the fullest. Not only did she help her own church, but other churches as well. She spent all year buying and storing items to pack. Not only was she a strong supporter of Samaritan's Purse, but she also was a faithful supporter of Compassion International, St. Judes Children Hospital, and nursing home ministry. Wanda Jane was a prayer warrior for everyone. She gave help to anyone who was in need disregarding race and genre. She was a determined person who never gave up but completed the task no matter how difficult. She was the most forgiving person ever. She really did forgive and forget. She loved the Lord, her family, her church, friends, her dog Skip, wearing pretty earrings, making pecan pies to give away, and her bubble gum petunias. She lived her life in total obedience to the Lord and will be missed so very much. Wanda Jane was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Hattie Little; husband, Rev. Jerome McLendon; daughter, Paula Kay; brother, Jimmy Mize; and sister-in-law, Judy McLendon, She is survived by her two daughters, Kim Jones (Johnny) and Jane Smith (Keith); and grandchildren, Emily Stingley (Timmy), Becky Hammons (Derek), Mandy Dennis, and Maura Strait (Doug). She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Arden Hospice for their compassion and care during this time and a special thanks to Leaser Collins, Jenna, and Alisha.
