Wanda McNece Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Souder Family Funeral Home on Apr. 28, 2025.
Sue Lance McNece, 83, passed away on Wednesday April 16th, 2025. A Celebration of life service will be at 2:00PM Saturday, May 10th at Halstead Road Baptist Church in Rockford, Il.
Sue was proceeded in death by her husband, Bill McNece who she married on Feb 4th 1972, until his death on March 1st 2016; father Theodore Lance; Mother, Elizabeth Lance; Sister, Betty Wartmon; Sister, Glenda Jarvis, and nephew Nathan Lance ; Survivors include her son, Jason McNece and wife Heather, Step Daughters Amanda Shank and husband Bobby, and Susan McNece ; grandchildren Lance and Lauren McNece.
Sue was born in Nashville Tennessee and lived in Michigan, Alabama, and Ohio in her childhood. She graduated from North College High School in Cincinnati Ohio and worked as a receptionist for Baldwin Piano and Organs where she ultimately met her husband Bill. Together, they lived in both the Kansas City area and Rockford, IL.
Upon having children, she took on what she would say was her most important job which was being a stay-at-home mother. She excelled in this role, and her children were blessed to call her mother.
Sue was a tremendously devoted Christian woman. She loved Jesus and her life was a testament to that love. She had a wonderful relationship with Jesus and was a prayer warrior for him! She had the biggest heart and was so very generous. She would give you the shirt off her on back if she thought you needed it! Throughout her life she taught Sunday school to several different age groups, most recently at Halsted Baptist Church in Rockford, IL. Through her years of teaching, she has affected many lives!
The last three years of her life she resided with her son and his wife in Kansas City where she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren, Saturday morning breakfasts with her son, shopping at Macy's and Dillard's, and bonding with their dog Sparkle.
Her favorite pastime was attending Southern Gospel concerts or listening to Southern gospel music, watching Fox news, and of course shopping.
Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she loved to spoil her family. She had a real knack for picking out just the right gift!
She was our Mom, Grandma, and sister and she will be deeply missed!
Please help celebrate the life of Sue by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
