Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home And Crematory - Altus on Nov. 29, 2025.
Wanda Ruth (Walker) Miller, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and longtime resident of Eldorado, Oklahoma, passed away on November 26, 2025, at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 27, 1953, in Anson, Texas, where she was proudly raised.
Wanda was the daughter of Burl D. Walker and Violet Inez (Bowman). Growing up on the family farm and also behind the sheriff's office-right below the jail-she was surrounded by a unique and loving community. Her father served as the Jones County Cheif Deputy, and the sheriff's deputies became like uncles to her, helping shape her into the warm, outgoing woman she became. A treasured childhood memory was being crowned Little Miss Christmas in the eighth grade by Anson's own country music star, Jeannie C. Riley.
Wanda's lifelong love story with Jay Miller began when he moved to Anson in the seventh grade. Jay persisted until Wanda finally agreed to date him, and from that moment on, the two were inseparable-sweethearts all through high school. Wanda graduated in May of 1972, and the couple married on March 24, 1973, at First Baptist Church in Anson. They began their married life in Abernathy, Texas.
Wanda worked in banking in both Abernathy and Hale Center for 12 years before the family moved to Eldorado in September of 1985. Soon after, she began her 27-year career with the Farm Service Agency. Over nearly three decades, Wanda worked in numerous counties, eventually becoming second in charge and even serving as interim director. She also served briefly in the Quanah, Texas office and worked for the FHA office in Frederick for 18 months. Wanda truly loved helping farmers-her organizational talent, dedication, and compassion made her invaluable to those she served.
Wanda never met a stranger. She was always the first to introduce herself, to welcome someone new, and to make sure no one ever felt alone. Her warm, inviting personality touched everyone she encountered.
She served several years on the Eldorado School Board-something her sons liked to say was mainly to keep them in line. As a mother, she was unmatched. Wanda was an incredibly gifted cook who took immense pride in caring for her family. She could prepare a full homemade meal in under thirty minutes, and she did it nightly with joy. Her baking was equally exceptional; her pumpkin bread, pecan pies, and oatmeal cookies were family favorites that will forever carry her memory.
Above all, Wanda's greatest love was her family. She was a devoted mother, a delighted grandmother, a caring sister, and a loyal friend.
Wanda was preceded in father, Burl Walker and Inez (Bowman) Rotton.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jay Miller;
Her sons: Jason "Chad" Miller and wife Julie, Colt Miller and girlfriend Jana
Her treasured grandchildren: Carson James Miller and Carle Jaylin Miller;
Her sisters: Linda Ellebracht and husband Dennis, Janet Jowers and husband Rick, Tara Walker; Her niece and nephews: Emily and husband Jerry Jurica, John Ellebracht and wife Liz, Hoss Jowers;
And many extended family members, coworkers, farmers, and friends who loved her dearly.
Wanda will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, her laughter, and the way she made every person feel like family. Her legacy of love and service will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
