Debra "Debbie" Rae Staton, a lifelong resident of Southwest Oklahoma, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Oklahoma City after a brief illness. She was born on November 22, 1950, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to devoted parents who taught her the value of hard work, kindness, and family. She grew up primarily in Mangum and Comanche, Oklahoma, while her father worked as a land surveyor in Comanche and Hobart, Oklahoma.
Known to everyone simply as Debbie, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to the people she cared about. She attended Altus Beauty School and later worked at Falcon Glass as a secretary, where she handled orders and daily operations with skill and dedication. Before her time at Falcon Glass, Debbie proudly served her community as a police officer and dispatcher for the Mangum Police Department.
Debbie met the love of her life, Dan Staton, on a blind date arranged by her sister, Laquita. The two married on May 4, 1985, in a small ceremony at Dan's parents' home. True to the humor that followed them throughout their marriage, Dan had back surgery shortly after but Debbie stayed faithfully at his side. Their life together was full of devotion, mischief, and the lighthearted spirit that she brought into every room.
After leaving the workforce, Debbie embraced life as a homemaker though those who loved her would lovingly say she was also a "troublemaker." She enjoyed long days at Tom Steed Lake, especially fishing, boating, and making memories under the Oklahoma sun. Her greatest joy, above all, was her grandchildren. She lived for them, supported them, and loved them like a second mother. To many, she was affectionately known as "Auntie," a title that spoke volumes about her generous and kind heart.
Debbie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Mangum, where her faith shaped her compassion and strength.
She is survived by her husband of forty years, Dan Staton; children: Shawn Graham, Courtney Coolong and Heather Graham. Her stepchildren, Trent Staton and wife Kimberly, Tara Staton Coffman and husband Randall. Her beloved grandchildren, twelve in all: Ian Graham, Tiran Graham, Dillon Graham, Triston Graham, Jessica Solis, Camryn Graham, Amanda Coffman-Wilson, Samantha Graham, Aubrey Coffman, Dakota Staton, Sierra Staton Utley, and Luke Weeaks.
Debbie was also blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren, each one holding a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her sister, Laquita Knight, along with nieces and nephews she adored: Shalia Willis, Steven Knight, and Jeff Knight and his wife Summer.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Kahos.
Debra "Debbie" Staton will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her fierce love of family, and the joy she brought to every person fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were touched by her generous spirit.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2025 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Oklahoma.
