Sumter, SC.Wanda Lou Myers Casker, age 88, beloved wife of 66 years to Ret. Colonel Thomas William Casker, USAF, passed away on January 8, 2025 at Tuomey Health Prisma Hospital.
She was born in Plum Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Roy Oakley and Josie Drake Myers. Attending Plum Township High School and the Robert Morris Business College of Pittsburgh, she was employed at the Alcoa Research Laboratories, New Kensington. Wanda enjoyed reading, knitting, playing bridge and studying genealogy. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, Sumter; a member of the Bethany Sunday School Class, served on the Diaconate of the church and was given an Honorary membership from the Women's Association, a member of the Sumter's Home Daughters of the American Revolution where she was a former Regent of the chapter, in addition to several other offices; she was also a former member of the Fort Congaree Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists. As the children were growing up, she served with the Brownies, Girls Scouts, Sunday school, and the Cub Pack. As an Air Force family, she moved and served for over 30 years. For many years Wanda was employed in their many travels in various places.
She is survived by three children; Edward (Laurie Hannigan) of Timberlake, N.C., Linda Lynn (John David) of Ludowici, G.A., John (Lisa McSherry) of Bragda, Portugal; and three Grandsons and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13th, 2025 at 11:00am at The First Presbyterian Church, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Stewart Rawson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Greenwood Park Memorial Cemetery in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am, Monday, January 13th, 2025 at The First Presbyterian Church, Sumter.
