Wanda Parrott

Wanda Spurgeon Parrott, 80, widow of Dr. Olson Parrott, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Homeplace in Midway. She was born on March 18, 1942 in Versailles, Kentucky to the late James L. and Leona Rose Spurgeon. Wanda was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church and served on the Versailles City Council. She was very active in various organizations including, the Versailles Medical Auxiliary, Democratic Women's Club, Woodford County Planning and Zoning Commission, where she served as the chair of Technical review committee, Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, board member of the Woodford Historical Society Museum Committee, Woodford County Women's Club, Woodford County Senior Citizens, Woodford County Response Team (CERT) in the Medical Reserve Corp, Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board, Kentucky Colonel, Board Member of the Bluegrass Area Development District. She worked as a registered nurse, a realtor, and worked over 20 years at the Department for Community Based Services. She always enjoyed quilting, traveling, gardening, politics drawing, cooking, and decorating for Christmas.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James "Jimmy" M. Spurgeon.
Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen Boden (John Bradley), Versailles, grandson, James (Pamela) Glass, Georgetown, sister-in-law, Delia Corman Spurgeon, Versailles, nephew, Jason (Larissa) Spurgeon, Lexington, niece, Leslie (Billy Barker) Gaus, Versailles, great-grandson, Cooper Glass, great-nieces, Emma, Lydia, and great-nephew, Jonah. The family would like to extend a special thank you for all the support from Ann Richmond and Mark Herbert.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Versailles, Father Alan Sutherland officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. John's Columbarium. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John's Episcopal Church, 210 North Main Street, Versailles, KY 40383.
