Wanda Raupach Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 29, 2025.
Wanda "Jean" (Rexrode) Clarkson Raupach of Bluemont, Virginia took her journey to be with the Lord on August 28, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Jean was born May 13, 1940 to Pearl R. Clarkson and the Rexrode Family in Arbovale, WV at the family home. Her stepfather Russell Clarkson adopted her in 1945 and raised her with care and love, as his own.

Jean graduated from Green Bank High School in 1958. Following a job with the Meyer Lumber Company and a short time at Fairmont College, she relocated to Washington DC. Jean became an administrative assistant for the FBI, and after 10 years of service, began working for the House of Representatives, where she retired after 22 years. After retirement, Jean worked for Dr. Deanna Deruso, in Leesburg, as a receptionist for 10 years.

Jean married Kenneth Raupach on August 31, 1973, and resided in Alexandria, VA together until his death in 1986. After retirement, Jean left the city and moved to her house that her and Ken had built together, in Bluemont, VA. She found a special friend and loving companion, Robert Tewes, later in life. They traveled and enjoyed the little things until losing him to cancer in 2006. Jean continued to enjoy good friends and her favorite food spots, socialized and stayed busy as a single woman. In 2017, Jean's mother came to live with her while building a stronger bond and becoming best friends. Jean cared for her mother selflessly until her own health prevented her from continuing to do so. Jean and Pearl resided together in her house until her passing.

Jean was an independent, hardworking, loving woman who had an open ear for anyone and always enjoyed a good laugh. Her generosity and kindness came without expectation, and she valued those who kept their word. She was referred to as "one of the best patients," by many who worked with her in the healthcare field.

Along with her father, husband, and boyfriend, Jean is predeceased by many cherished relatives and close friend. She leaves behind her loving mother, stepchildren, cousins, neighbors, and friends, whom she considered family.

A special thanks to the caretakers, nurses, doctors, friends and family that assisted in ensuring love and care for Jean during her transition.
