Wanda Lucille Reis Jensen, of
Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 27, 1931, in Natalbany, Louisiana, to the late Jewel Lee Tucker and Allie Mae Matthews Tucker, Wanda's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, creativity, and adventure.
A loving wife to the late Reed Warren Jensen for 18 beautiful years, Wanda's life was further blessed with a loving family. Wanda was a nurturing mother to Cindy Gibson (Gary), John Reis (Melinda), Philip Reis (Karen), Kurt Jensen, and Tiffany Robinson (Russell), and to the late Bruce Jensen and Julie Jensen. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Brian Gibson, Felicia Parent (Chris), Nikki Madeley, John Reis (Amanda), Angelle Rowe (Jamie), Samantha Schenker (Kevin), Sarah Young (Ricky), Tiffany Morales, Michelle Hughes, and Philip Reis (Danielle), and her great-grandchildren, Reis, Allie, Aiden, Jonah, Juliette, Kaelyn, Jordan, Maryah, Maleah, Kingston, Princeton, Brooks, Heston, Jesse, Mika, Simon, Chloe, Gage, Devin, Tay, and Maddie. Wanda was preceded in death by her sister, Yvonne O'Connor.
Wanda graduated from Sophie B. Wright with the Class of 1947, marking the beginning of a life filled with continuous learning and growth. She dedicated 33 years of service to Bellsouth Corporation, where she not only excelled in her career but also formed lasting friendships and connections. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her devotion to her family and her passions.
An artist at heart, Wanda was an active member of the Slidell Art League, where she shared her love for painting and drawing. In her earlier years, Wanda's melodic voice graced the Sweet Adeline Quartet, performing under the names of the Creole Cuties and the Sparkelettes. Wanda's garden was another canvas of hers, where she cultivated beauty and serenity at home.
Her intellectual curiosity was insatiable; Wanda was a voracious reader who kept abreast of current events and never hesitated to share her well-informed opinions. She and Reed shared a love for travel, exploring the United States in their 5th wheel camper, and also enjoyed venturing abroad to Europe and the Caribbean. Cruises with her family were among her most cherished experiences, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A faithful member of Ridge Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell, Wanda's spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence. She attended church and Bible study regularly, finding strength and community in her faith until her health prevented attendance.
Wanda will be remembered as a loving and generous soul, whose presence enriched the lives of those around her. Her warmth, wisdom, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures will continue to inspire her family and friends. Her wonderful sense of humor and generous spirit brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.
Wanda's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at Summerfield Senior Living in Slidell for their kindness and love they showed during Wanda's residence there for over 10 years. Also, special thanks to caregivers, Samantha and Tina, for their loving kindness, patience, and professionalism; and to Pastor Paul Dabdoub of Ridge Memorial Baptist Church for his wisdom and kindness as he ministered to Wanda in her last days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service will begin in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Tammany Animal Services are appreciated.
