Wanda Lee Roberts

February 27, 1933 – July 16, 2025

Wanda Lee Roberts, age 92, of Rayville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2025. She was born at home in Jackson County, Missouri, on February 27, 1933, to Sam and Grace Pennington.

Wanda was married to the love of her life, Hal L. Roberts, for 73 years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and service, raising their family in Kansas City's Northland before retiring to their beloved farm in Rayville in 1986.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wanda found her greatest joy in time spent with family. She loved hosting neighborhood pancake breakfasts and organizing hayrides and horseback rides for local children at the family farm. Her warmth and generosity created cherished memories for all who knew her.

Wanda had a lifelong love of horses and proudly rode in the American Royal Parade. She was an excellent cook, a skilled gardener with a green thumb, and an expert at crossword puzzles. She was a schoolroom mother during her children's early years and generously volunteered her time at Liberty Hospital and the local voting polls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Grace Pennington, her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Virgil Oliver; and her cousin, Lee Oliver.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Hal; her daughter, Kathy Stovin (Gar); her sons, Michael Roberts (Lisa) and Steven Roberts (Pam); grandchildren, Whitney Welsh (Jake), Loren Fenton (Tyler), Eryn Graham (Jacob), Brett Roberts (Laura), and Kayla Stovin; great-grandchildren, Oakley and Baker Fenton, Cole and Molly Graham, Baby Welsh on the way; and cousin Grace Ann Thornton.

A private family graveside service will be held at Old Union Church.

Wanda's legacy of kindness, hospitality, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
