Wanda Ladonna Short, born in Patterson, California on October 31, 1937, passed away on December 2, 2025, in Merced, California. Wanda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, cherished for her roles as a homemaker, teacher's aide, bookkeeper for the family construction company, and a tax preparer for the elderly.

Raised in various parts of California and a high school graduate, Wanda married Chuck Short on May 6, 1955, in Reno, Nevada. The couple shared many loving years until Chuck's passing. Wanda was a talented seamstress. She loved walking, gardening, canning, and flower growing. She took great joy in baking, especially her award-winning apple pie which won first place at the Stanislaus County Fair. Wanda was a faithful attendee of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Modesto and First Southern Baptist Church in Hilmar.

She leaves behind her daughters, Teri Cox, Laura Metzel, and Lisa Short; sisters, Shirley Smith, Joyce Ream, Ladonna Hays, and Susan Edmiston; and brothers, Max, Dan, and Gary Edmiston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Short; and brothers, Don and Otis Edmiston.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Turlock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Delhi First Southern Baptist Church.
