Wanda was born on July 9, 1939, in Sea Level, NC, to the late Charles and Neta Brown.  A devoted Christian woman, Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis for over 60 years. She blessed numerous lives with her God-given musical ability over the years, playing the piano and directing the Church choir. Wanda always had a song in her heart and a smile on her beautiful face. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel cherished and valued. It was evident that the Lord was the foundation of her life and that her faith was unshakable.

Family held a special place in Wanda's heart. Blessed with 62 years of marriage with her husband, Phillip, they created a beautiful life together. Her daughters would tell you she could be firm, but she did so with grace, and you always felt better after her words of wisdom. Wanda loved her family dearly and her eyes sparkled with love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wanda especially loved Sunday mornings with her 3 angels, when she and her daughters would get together for coffee, catching up with one another and share a few laughs. Wanda loved her home which she affectionately called Smithwyn. She loved canning fruits and vegetables which made her delicious home cooked meals even more amazing. You were sure to never leave her home hungry and you were always blessed beyond words with her kindness.

In her free time, Wanda loved to travel with her friends. No matter what the destination was, she was always ready to explore new places and meet new friends.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Phillip Burton Smith; daughters, Dana Nelson (John), Anna Smith, and Kara Smith (Tommy Fulcher), all of Davis, NC; sisters, Anita Brown of Arlington, VA, and Sylvia Styron (Phillip) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sisters-in-law, Becky Smith of Morehead City, NC and Raelene Rosselli (Chic) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Lauren Salter, John Phillip Nelson, and Morgan Nelson Taylor; 8 precious great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Shelly Brown, Jacqueline Hildebrandt, Ted Smith, and Gregory Brown (Cindy);  and special extended family, Lois, Letchworth, Tammy Davis, Brenda Willis and Kelsey Richards.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Stewart Brown.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Davis, 130 Community Rd., Davis, NC 28524.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences.
