Wanda Sue Stull, age 73, of
Jefferson City, Mo., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 6, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo., with her family by her side.
She was born on August 14, 1950, in Mexico, Mo., the daughter of Joe Emerson and Nellie Frances (Gray) Jones. After meeting in high school, Wanda was united in marriage to David Stull, who was captivated by her shining smile and bright blue eyes. They were wed on June 1, 1969, in Mexico and shared 55 wonderful years of marriage together.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Wanda was a 1968 graduate of Mexico High School. She joined the workforce right out of high school, primarily focusing on administrative work which she quickly found she excelled at.
Having pristine attention to detail, Wanda worked as a bookkeeper and administrator for various companies throughout the mid-Missouri area including LaCasita, Sunshine Distributing, and the Special Olympics. She then began her tenure at Concord Baptist Church where she served as the Administrative Assistant to the lead pastor for over 23 years. Through her work with Concord, she became a pillar in the church community and a true example of a Christian woman.
Wanda possessed an extremely bubbly and sparkly personality and had a very generous heart. She was active in the Concord Kids Ministry and various Sunday School classes through the years. She was lovingly known as Mrs. Wanda to dozens of kids, and they often referred to her as such even into their adult years. Through their involvement at Concord, Wanda and David were active in the Jefferson City Gideon Camp. She was a dedicated volunteer at Capital Region Medical Center in various capacities with the volunteer auxiliary. Wanda and David served on the board of the New Providence Cemetery in New Bloomfield for several years. Her caring and positive nature allowed for her to share the love of Jesus everywhere she went. She loved her God and her church, building the foundation of her life around her faith.
Having a creative side, Wanda excelled in various crafts including sewing, ceramics, needlework, scrapbooking, and crafting. She was best known for her unique talent in the kitchen, involving baking cakes, specifically wedding cakes, and treats of all sorts. At Christmas time, she spoiled folks with candies, cookies, cakes, and pies and made personalized Christmas decorations that are still treasured today. Her creativity also spanned into her love of dancing and singing and appreciation for the arts.
Together, Wanda and David enjoyed trips to visit family in Colorado. Her love of dancing was passed down to her grandchildren and she cherished every opportunity she had to watch and support them in various recitals, competitions, and practices. They also supported their grandson's passion for baseball by attending practices, games, and tournaments. Wanda and David also loved going to Branson to attend shows at the Sight and Sound Theatre. They were blessed with the opportunity to travel to Israel, Hawaii, and Turks and Caicos together, creating memories they both cherished.
Finding beauty all around her, Wanda was passionate about flowers, gardening, and hiking. In her younger years, she was an active member of the Girl Scouts and was a Den Leader for her boys while they were in the Boy Scouts. Being ever present and active in her sons' and grandchildren's lives was of the utmost importance and she made sure they knew how loved and cherished they were. She loved her family deeply and instilled in them many traits that will continue for generations to come. Wanda's ornery and stubborn, yet friendly and sparkling personality will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
She is survived by her loving husband, David; mother, Nellie Jones of Mexico, Mo.; sons, Aaron Stull (Tiffany) of Centennial, Co., and Charles "Chuck" Stull (Lori) of Crocker, Mo.; grandchildren, Audrianna McCoy (Braxton), Hallie Stull, and Samuel Stull all of Centennial, Co.; and siblings, Janet Flick (Gary) of Centralia, Mo., Fred Jones (Janet) of Mexico, Mo., Teresa Brightwell of Thompson, Mo., Ken Jones (Jane) of Centennial, Co., Wilma Jenks (Darrell) of Norman, Ok.; brothers-in-law, Ivan Stull (Georgia) of Raymore, Mo., Kavan Stull (Lynne) of Oronogo, Mo., and Robin Stull (Teresa) of
