Joyce Snellen, age 85, of
Jefferson City, Mo., passed away February 3, 2026, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born on October 27, 1940, in
Ulman, Mo., daughter of Andrew Jenkins and Flora Sanders. She was united in marriage to William Paul Snellen on August 17, 1957, in Jefferson City. They spent 55 years together building a wonderful family and created many memories before his death on April 10, 2013.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of central Missouri and a graduate of Jefferson City Senior High. At 16 she began working as a nurse's aide in the Labor and Delivery unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She later worked for Chesebrough Ponds, now known as Unilever, before starting at Kmart. A role she faithfully filled for over 30 years until her retirement.
Above all else, family was at the heart of Joyce's life. She poured her love into caring for those around her, always making sure her family felt supported and cherished.
Joyce had a talent for stretching a dollar and was always on the lookout for a good bargain. She had a deep interest in researching her family's history and genealogy. She also found joy in tending her large and beautiful gardens.
Faith was a steady pillar throughout Joyce's life. A member of First Assembly of God since she was 8 years old, she was deeply involved in church. She loved gospel music and for many years was part of the traveling gospel group, JOY Singers Trio, singing with her husband while he played guitar. Joyce passed her faith on to her children and grandchildren, teaching them Bible verses and sharing the gospel through both words and example.
Joyce will be remembered for the love and devotion she showed so consistently to her family.
