For our beloved wife and mother, Wanda Teal Rivers, it was a glorious June 20th afternoon when the loving arms of her Christ and Savior welcomed her to her home of eternal rest. We, the family, are, indeed, deeply saddened by her departure from our earthly lives. We, however, find comfort in knowing she gave love and laughter to all who knew her. We are confident that we, too, will find peace in the days ahead, knowing we shall be forever joined with her in her now heavenly home of no pain, no cancer, no sickness, or sadness.
Wanda was instrumental in the family business, Rivers Plumbing & Electric, for many years. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Free Worship. Wanda had a heart for many people, but especially school children. She also enjoyed spending time at their beach house, talking and laughing with many of her friends. Most of all, she enjoyed her home and yards, which were always immaculate and decorated beautifully for each season.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Randy Rivers, and her children whom she adored: daughter, Brandie Rivers, and son, Scott Rivers. Her sister, Pat Sellers; sister-in-law, Felicia Teal; and her niece, Sara; as well as a host of her Rivers’ relatives and many friends. Especially close to her heart were special friends: Antroine Spencer, Marshall Lisenby, and Deronda Michael; and her precious fur babies, George and Maggie.
Wanda was born on June 2, 1953, in Allendale, SC, to Gene and Ella Brown Teal. She is predeceased by her parents listed above; a brother, Johnny Teal; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Sellers.
A visitation is planned for Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Free Worship Church in Cheraw, SC, with Pastor Chad Vick and Brent Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, SC.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John McLeod for the kindness and help he provided to Wanda and her family during her illness.
Should one wish to honor Wanda with a memorial, the family suggests, in remembering her love of animals, that memorials may be made to a humane society of one’s choice.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Rivers family.
