Wanda Johnson Vance, 87, a beloved wife, mother, and daughter, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on July 30, 1938, born to Estelle and Marvin Johnson in Upshur County, Texas.
A dedicated educator, Wanda was an elementary school teacher for many years, touching the lives of countless students. Her kindness, warmth, and commitment to learning left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She loved her family dearly and found joy in their shared moments and accomplishments. Her strong faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, previously at Baker Presbyterian Church, and a long-time member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Clinton, Louisiana.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Lewis Joseph "Buddy" Vance, Sr.; son, Lewis Joseph "Joey" Vance Jr.; daughter, LuAnn Vance Bishop and husband Spencer; cherished grandchildren, Lewis Joseph "Joe" Vance, III (Cami), Kaydi Vance Jackson (Tyler), Spencer Vance Bishop, Maggie Bishop Prejean (Ryan), Jack Harrison Bishop (Lily); and sisters, Linda Johnson Mashon (Carl) and Shirley Johnson Delaney (David); and a host of nieces and nephews. Her memory will be forever held in the hearts of her family and friends.
Wanda is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Wade Johnson; mother, Estelle Hardaway Johnson. She is now reunited in glory with those who have gone before her.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Vance, Vance Bishop, Jack Bishop, Ryan Prejean, and Tyler Jackson.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Jeff Mitchell. The graveside service and burial will follow at 1:00 PM in the Natchez City Cemetery, in Natchez, Mississippi.
