Wanetca Ann Reynolds went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2025. Truly an angel receiving her wings to make her way to heaven, she peacefully passed from her present to eternal life at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston, Texas. Wanetca was 91 years old and lived a life full of love, joy, grace and blessings!
A lifelong native Texan, Wanetca was born March 20, 1934 in Denworth, Texas and was a longtime resident of Borger, TX. She lived the past 15 years in Friendswood, TX to be near family. On July 17, 1953 she married the love of her life, Johnny Reynolds, and they lived in the Texas Panhandle town of Borger, TX for the majority of their married life. She worked 28 years as an administrative professional for JM Huber Corp, and retired as a Product Control Reporter-- adored by colleagues and coworkers due to her joyful spirit and helpful nature. A founding member of Keeler Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school and served faithfully wherever there was a need-she truly had a servant's heart and showered others with her spiritual gift of hospitality. Since moving to Friendswood, she had been an active member of South Park Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas. Wanetca is preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Clara Hupp and a brother, Jack Hupp and his wife, Edwina-her best friend.
Wanetca dearly loved her family and deeply cared for others a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Known affectionately by her family as "Nanny", she was the epitome of love! She made everyone feel special! A nurturer and caregiver to so many over the years-she became "Nanny" to so many family and friends-she truly reflected the unconditional love of Jesus to all who knew her!
Wanetca is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, John Reynolds Sr.; daughter, Jonetta Crain; son, Eddy Reynolds and wife Amy; brother, Ray Hupp and wife, Katie; grandchildren, Jay Reynolds, Chase Reynolds and wife Alyssa, Brandon Crain and wife Kristi, Dustin Crain; great grandchildren, Jack Crain, Tucker Crain and Ava Crain; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2025 at South Park Baptist Church in Alvin with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Oak Park Cemetery (500 Oak Park Drive – Alvin, Texas 77511).
