Warren Hern

Passed away peacefully in Rochester, NY, December 27 at the age of 72. Warren had an extensive leadership career in Rochester.
He began in the financial function of Park Ridge Hospital and progressed to the CFO of Unity Health System. During his term as CFO, he also served as National Chairman of the Health Care Financial Management Association. He took on the role of
CEO of Unity Health System and ultimately CoCEO of Rochester Regional Health after the merger between Rochester General Hospital and Unity Health System. Overall, his career represented a 40-year focus on improving health care in Rochester and surrounding areas.
He embraced life and work both before and after retirement. He served on several boards during retirement, Iovu BioScience, Center for Government Research, Academy of Health Sciences Charter School and ESL. After retirement he was able to golf as much as he wanted but always under pressure of his wife beating him at the game! He was part of a group of aged cyclists trekking through the hills of Rochester in summer. He never thought he would do this because of his distaste of Florida, but he bought a home on Amelia Island and he and Kathy began spending their winters there. He loved his children and grandchildren and spending as much time as possible with them in Rochester and Colorado. Warren was an avid baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball fan for his grandkids.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Katharine Bello and predeceased by his first wife Beverly Hern. His son Tim (Sue) and Tracy (Chuck) Taylor and his grandchildren Tyler and Anna Hern and Keagan and Althea Taylor will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by Kathy's children, Christina, Laura and Erica Bello.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 1st from 10AM -1PM and 3-6PM at the funeral home (2305 Monroe Ave.). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Mercy Flight or the Golisano Restorative Neurology & Rehabilitation Center.
