CHESTERVILLE - Warren C. Squires, age 93, a lifelong resident of Chesterville, Ohio died at home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
Warren was born at home in Chesterville on March 31, 1930, to the late Hoy "H.P" and Mary (Dix) Squires.
After graduating from Chesterville High School in 1947, Warren joined his father in the roofing business.
Warren met the love of his life, Marilyn Jo Smith of New Jersey, at a sheep show in Pennsylvania. The two married after a five-year courtship, mostly through letter writing, and they enjoyed 43 years together until her death in 2000.
Warren operated the Squires Roofing and Spouting business with his partner and brother-in-law, George O. Nauman, and later partner Tim Lyman. Warren also made his living in the fur and wool buying trades, as well as raising, selling, breeding and showing sheep.
In addition to his wife and parents, Warren was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and George Nauman. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mike (Jill Hayes) Squires of Westerville; two grandchildren: Sarah "Sally" Squires and Simon Warren Squires; Todd (Melissa) Nauman and George (Judy) Nauman; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from Noon – 2 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Snyder Funeral Homes, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH. Services honoring Warren's life will commence at 2 pm, beginning with Masonic services and continuing with a celebration of his life led by his son, Mike.
