Warren Gene “Tex” Williams, Sr., passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in his home in Columbia, Tennessee. He was born in San Angelo, Texas, the son of the late Warren Gene Harding Phillips and Norma Jean Williams. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Catherine Beatrice Williams and Cecil Charles Williams.
Warren was a true people person who could fill any room with laughter through his stories, jokes, and playful pranks. Once you knew him, you left with a lifelong friend and a new nickname. A jack of all trades, he could fix or build just about anything and always found a way to help others. He was strong in his faith and lived his life as a true Christian.
A proud veteran, Warren honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was married to his beloved wife, Sara Williams, for 57 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful life full of love, laughter, and family. He was always a Texan at heart, but he also loved the life he built in Tennessee.
Warren is survived by his wife, Sara “Dusti” Williams; children, Lana Lee (Shawn) Jenks, Alisha Dee White, Warren Gene Williams, Jr., and Sara Beth Liles; grandchildren, Justin Allen Birchfield, Jordan Alexander Birchfield, Trey DeSean Johnson, Macie D’Lee Pringle, Kendrick Liles, Cecil Lance Williams, Ella D'Lane White, Colt Rankin Williams, Warren Thomas Williams, and Isaac Casteel Williams; great-grandson, Theo Sebastian Johnson; and siblings, Sandra Lee (Damon) Thurman and Chuck (Lisa) McMains; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Samuel McMains; grandparents; and sister, Catherine (Doug) Keeney.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at Freedom Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, with Trent Hill officiating.
