Wayne Steven Basmajian "BAZTEK", 47, of New Britain, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 3rd, 2023, surrounded by his wife Megan and brother Mike Basmajian. Wayne grew up in Philadelphia and was an avid drag racer. He was at home when at the racetrack and on the street. He always loved the local tracks; Atco, Maple Grove and Cecil County Raceways and the times we went to Orlando Speed World and South Georgia Motorsports Park. He was best known for his blue Buick Regal and later driving his brother Mike's black Caprice. He could be found helping his son Eric with his black Mustang or anyone at the track that needed a hand. He was great at busting stones but would give you the shirt off his back. Wayne will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Elwood and Catharine (nee Vandegrift). He is survived by his wife Megan; his sons Eric (Jessica Daniels) and Riley; his stepsons Johnnie and Victor; his brothers Michael and Martin 'Bud' (Bernadette); nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Wayne always wanted a Celebration of Life instead of anything traditional. We request all of Wayne’s loved ones and friends join us in celebrating his life at GOLDSTEINS’ ROSENBERG’S RAPHAEL-SACKS Suburban North Chapel 310 Second St. Pike, Southampton, PA 18966 on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, from 6pm to 8pm. Please bring your racecars/streetcars so we can fill the lot and share stories. Burnouts are highly encouraged when leaving, it is what he would have wanted. Dress like you would at the track, Wayne was not a dresser upper.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer you donate to the following GoFundMe to support the Basmajian family. Please see the link below:
