Carroll Wayne Burnett, 76, of Stover, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his home.
Wayne was born on November 15, 1949, in Morgan County, Missouri. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Mt. Nebo Church near Versailles and was later baptized in Porter’s Creek. He was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Church near Stover.
Wayne enjoyed the simple things in life—watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza, visiting with friends and family, and attending the Stover Fair every year. He was known for his sense of humor and loved to pick on and joke with his loved ones. Always on the go, Wayne had a way of bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went.
Though Wayne never had children of his own, he played an important role in helping his sister raise her children and was a devoted uncle who cherished every moment spent with his nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed being outdoors and attending family barbecues, where his easygoing nature and kind heart made everyone feel at home.
Wayne will be remembered as a true family man—loving, loyal, and full of good-natured fun. His faith, laughter, and love for those around him will continue to be treasured by all who knew him.
Survivors include two brothers, Gene Burnett of Stover, Edward Burnett (Stella) of Windsor; 4 nieces and nephews, Misty Thompson (Dustin) of Gravois Mills, Raymond Don McCollom (Chantel) of Stover, Krystal Brandow (Cody) of Sedalia, and Kim Gonzagowski (Mark) of Versailles; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Zella Josephine Burnett; one sister, Donice Anderson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Chaney Chapel Cemetery south of Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Donor’s Choice.
