Wayne C. Murphy - Korean War Veteran, USMC
LOWELL - Wayne C. Murphy, 90, a long time Lowell resident, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following a period of declining health.
Born in Boston on March 24, 1935, he was a son of the late Harold J. and Madeline (Smith) Murphy.
During his youth, he was raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served with the USMC from 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in1955, spending 1 year in Korea.
For more than 20 years, Wayne worked in tax sheltered annuities for Aetna Life. He went on to own Tewksbury Home Painting until retirement.
Wayne was a Life Member of the East End Club and held membership in the VFW Walker Rogers Post, 662 and the Lowell American Legion.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Wayne’s Life Celebration on Friday from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. Committal Services followed by Military Honors will be held on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
