Wayne Gregory passed from this life on September 9, 2025, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Born on February 7, 1936, Wayne was a long-time resident of Memphis and Whiteville, Tennessee, before relocating to Fort Gibson in 2022. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1977 after 22 years of dedicated service. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he continued his commitment to public service by working for the Federal Aviation Administration in Memphis until his second retirement around 1999. Never one to shy away from hard work, Wayne and his wife, Shirley, later operated a mowing business, maintaining several government sites throughout the Memphis area. Their shared dedication and work ethic were evident in all they undertook. A man of faith, Wayne was a devoted member of the Azalea Church of Christ in Muskogee. He found joy and relaxation in building and flying model airplanes, tending to his garden, and riding motorcycles-pursuits that reflected both his creativity and love for the outdoors. Wayne's life was marked by service, perseverance, and quiet passion. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katharine Gregory and 1 brother. Survivors include 5 children, Kenneth Gregory (Chris), Connie Bowen, Janet Stacks (Tommy), Katrina Russell (Dave), Timothy Gregory (Anne); 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to Azalea Church of Christ, P.O. Box 947, Muskogee, OK 74402-0947 or Memphis School of Preaching, 3950 Forest Hill Irene Rd., Memphis, TN 38125 in his memory. Wayne's life will be celebrated, 1:30PM, Monday, September 15, 2025, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with his son-in-law, Brother Tommy Stacks, officiating. Wayne's grandchildren will serve as honorary casket bearers. The family of Wayne King Gregory has entrusted his care, service, and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. 918-478-2555.
