Mr. Jerry B. Gregory, age 79, of Ruby, South Carolina, peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. Bishop Tony Edwards, Bishop Michael Davis, and Brent Taylor will officiate the ceremony, with burial to take place in the Ruby Church of God Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and welcomes visitors at the Gregory home at other times.
Mr. Gregory was born on April 15, 1946, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, a son of the late Hazel B. and Lizzie Pigg Gregory. He dedicated over 23 years of service to Caro-Knit and previously worked for Jefferson Lumber for over 10 years and CHESCO Services for 12 years. Additionally, he served as a life-insurance agent with Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company for a number of years. Jerry was a skilled carpenter as the owner and operator of Gregory Construction, remaining active in his work until his final days.
An active and faithful member of Chesterfield Church of God, Jerry was passionate about music, often playing the bass guitar and serving as a council member for many years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed rabbit and coon hunting and coached various teams, including the Caro-Knit softball team and several church softball teams, as well as the “O J’s” USSA team.
Jerry was known for his great personality and sense of humor, always ready with a smile and a joke. He was frequently seen at his favorite local restaurants, known for his distinct style and meticulous hair style, he was often described as a “sharp-dressed man” always sporting his happy socks. He loved the Lord, his church, and most importantly, his family, proudly embracing the title of “Pa-Jerry” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Annette Gregory, and his brother, Carroll Gregory.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jewel Edwards Gregory; his children, Jamie (Jeannie) Gregory of Chesterfield, SC, Sharon G. Mills (Eric Stewart) of West Columbia, SC, Jerri Darlene G. (Scott) Smith of Chesterfield, SC, Jerry Tyler (Hillary) Gregory of Chesterfield, SC, and Pamela E. (Richard) Williamson of Ruby, SC.
Mr. Gregory’s family includes grandchildren Michael, Sharon Marie, Declan (Delaney), Malarie (Trey), Brittany, Timber, Heidi, Landon, Paxton, Aaron, Jasper (Jordan), Brandon (Chelsea), Trent (Keren), and Morgan; great-grandchildren Dakota, Taylee, Briley, Reed, Nyla, Beckham, Jase, Remmington, Silas, Jarone, Anna Kate, Axl, Wyatt, Waylon, and Victoria; as well as sister-in-law Kathy Gregory of Jefferson, SC, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CHESCO Service in honor of Jerry's dedicated service, P.O. Box 151, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
