Dalton Wayne Higgs, 75, of Manitou, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He was born on May 20, 1950, in Bremen, KY, to the late Miriam Dockins Higgs and Lester Freeman Higgs. He was formerly employed as a Highway Tech II for the Kentucky State Department of Transportation. He enjoyed watching football, working in his garage, and Rock Steady Boxing (for Parkinson's) at the YMCA. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Wayne was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Higgs; and his nephew, Chad Higgs.

His survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Pamela Winchel Higgs of Manitou; daughters, Christy (Benton) Hoagland of Manitou, Dana (Kevin) Nance of Manitou, and Jennifer (Jim) Roberson of Granite City, IL; sisters, Brenda (Gary) Gibson of Corydon, KY and Diane (Randall) Rone of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Courtney (Johnathon) Watts, Ashley (Mason) Roberts, Austin (Jaci Pike) Hoagland, Evan Hoagland, and Kaylea Roberson; great-grandchildren, Carter Watts and Charlie Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Benton Hoagland officiating. Burial to follow at Concord General Baptist Church Cemetery in Manitou, KY.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
