In Loving Memory of Wayne Douglas Hyatt

July 19, 1955 – July 24, 2025

Wayne Douglas Hyatt, age 70, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, just days after celebrating his 70th birthday. He faced kidney failure with quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, loyalty, and love.

A proud graduate of Lakewood High School (Class of 1974), Wayne bravely served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, sailing aboard the USS Ranger. His dedication to his country was a testament to his quiet courage and deep sense of duty.

Wayne found joy in life's simple treasures. A lifelong enthusiast of the open road, he embraced every opportunity to ride motorcycles and ATVs, with his beloved dogs faithfully by his side. He relished time spent in nature-hunting, fishing, and soaking up the serenity that brought him peace.

His love for vehicles went beyond the ride. Wayne took pride in customizing them with chrome rims and the latest accessories, always staying ahead of the curve. It was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his attention to detail and his flair for making things uniquely his own.

Each week, Wayne looked forward to lunches and movie outings with his brothers and sister-in-law-a tradition rich with laughter, connection, and shared memories. He loved classic Westerns like Gunsmoke, drawn to their rugged charm and timeless spirit.

His family will always remember Wayne's sharp wit and dry sense of humor, which could light up a room with a single quip. He was the kind of man who could say volumes with just a few words.

Wayne devoted many years of service to RTD before retiring, earning respect from colleagues and a well-earned chapter of rest.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Margaret) Hyatt and Steven (Joni) Hyatt, as well as multiple nieces and nephews who carry his memory forward. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Alma Hyatt; his brother Billy Hyatt; his nephew Bobby Hyatt; and his sister Patty Pirk.

A memorial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, with details to be determined.

Though Wayne's earthly road has come to an end, his memory rides on-steady, spirited, and deeply loved.
