Wayne Allen "Dawg" Kanniard, 72, of Powell passed away early Tuesday morning, August 26, 2025, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born October 8, 1952, in Radnor, Ohio to the late Lester Lee Kanniard and Dorothy (Wycoff) Kanniard.
On August 21, 1972, he married the love of his life Linda Lou Johnson and together they just recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. A hard-working man, Dawg worked for 33 years as a masonry specialist for the former Reliant and Hydro Conduit. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and golfing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing and listening to music, especially Bluegrass and singing. He played a variety of instruments including the guitar, mandolin and harmonica. A sports fanatic and avid Ohio State University fan, his CB handle name was "Stringbean."
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda; son, Dave (Tamara) Kanniard of Mt. Sterling; daughter-in-law, Ashley Kanniard of Delaware; 13 grandchildren; brother, Jeff (Kim) Kanniard of Delaware; mother-in-law Wilma Johnson of Grove City; sisters-in-law, Brenda Kanniard and Lee Kitts, both of Delaware; brother-in-law John (Kim) Johnson of Plain City; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dawg was also preceded in death by his son Brad Lee Kannaird, his brother Ricky Lee Kannaird, brother-in-law Bob Johnson and his father-in-law Robert Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the SnyderFuneral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William St., Delaware, where services celebrating Dawg's life will follow at 6 p.m.
