Wayne R. Keon, age 84, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Wayne was born on October 4, 1940 in Lena to Dorothy (Randall) and Donald Keon.
In 1957, Wayne met Liz Kupsch and they wed in 1959, going on to have 4 children, Dennis, Dale, Kelly, & Matthew.
Wayne worked for the Green Bay Fire Department for 25 years and retired as Captain in the 1980s. After retirement, Wayne and his wife, Liz, enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Port Aransas, Texas. Wayne spent much of his time fishing and socializing with new friends. Wayne was known for ability to connect with anyone, he was known affectionately as "The Mayor" at his apartment complex in Bellevue.
Wayne is survived by his children: Dale Keon, Kelly Keon and Matthew (Cathy Stoutner) Keon; grandchildren: Samuel Keon, Dorothy Keon, Jason (Candy) Hood, and Stephanie (Ross) Eggett; great-grandchildren: Deckar, Hadlie, Mallie, Jackson, and Mila; his brother, Richard (Mary) Keon; his daughter-in-law Jamie Keon; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Keon. Wayne is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Liz; son, Dennis Keon; his parents; brothers: James Keon, Vance "Jack" Keon, Donald Keon; and his sister, Meredith Keon.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aurora Hospice and our care professionals at Home Instead for their incredible care and compassionate support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Green Bay Area Professionals Firefighters Charity
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church (120 S. Henry St. Green Bay, WI). A Memorial Service will take place immediately following at 11:00 am.
