Wayne E. Long

Wayne E. Long, age 79, of Millsboro, DE passed away on April 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.
He was born January 31, 1946 in Frankford, DE a son of the late Clifton I. Long and Armenia (Rogers) Long. He was a graduate of John M. Clayton High School Class of 1964. Wayne retired from DuPont in Seaford, DE where he made countless friends.
Wayne's life revolved around sports. He was a huge Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Wayne never missed any of his grandson's sporting events and was their biggest cheerleader. In his younger years he owned some race horses and always had a love of horses.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Joyce Long who passed away in 2004; a brother, Armon Long and a sister, Ruth Robbins. He is survived by a son, David Long and his wife Sheila; two grandchildren, D. J. Long and his wife, Kailee and Jesse Long and his wife, Brittany; two great grandchildren, Karsyn Long and Bryson Long; a sister, Joyce Serman and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where a memorial service will begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Millsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Wayne's name to Sussex Central Baseball Boosters, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown, DE 19947.
