Mr. Wayne Pate, aged 73, passed away on October 20, 2025, at his home in Patrick, South Carolina. The family invites all who knew him to join them for a Celebration of Life Gathering at “The Building” located at 8229 Hartsville-Ruby Road, Patrick, SC, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM. Steven Sellers will lead the remembrance with a heartfelt eulogy. The family kindly requests that everyone dress casually in celebration of Wayne's life.
Born on June 24, 1952, in Cheraw, South Carolina, Wayne was the son of the late Fred B. Pate and Emily Brock Pate. He was a long-time employee of INA Bearing before his retirement. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and riding motorcycles. He had a special place in his heart for his animals and took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather, affectionately known as “Pa-Wayne” to his grandchildren, with whom he cherished spending time. Additionally, Wayne had a close bond with his nephews, whom he treated like his own children.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pate was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Johnny Roscoe.
He is survived by his children, Nikki Pate (Jamey) Davis of Cheraw, SC; Wayne (Staci) Pate, Jr. of Chesterfield, SC, and their mother, Terri Pate of Cheraw, SC; and Holly Pate Rayfield and her mother, Barbara Gail (Chris) Sellers of Chesterfield, SC.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Aliyah Williams, Taylor Williams, Landon Davis, Kaine Rayfield, Stetson Rayfield, and Caleb Pate; great-grandchildren Brenley Williams and Maverick Hall; his sister, Kathy (Dwight) Byrd of Columbia, SC; sons of the heart, Steven Sellers, Brandon Sellers, Zack Sellers, and Josh Sellers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
